Details

Nearly a year into their existence their set is a nearly even split between cover songs and originals. Of all of the originals heard here, only Battle Scar would ever be released on an album.

Mike Tilka has stated that Battle Scar was the first original song the band played live. They rehearsed it one afternoon, and it was spontaneously played that evening. Tilka adds that the song didn't have the bass riff yet, and was more guitar driven. The song was considered for the first couple albums, but eventually dropped from their live set. Max revived it for their 1980 tour with Rush, which led to the song being recorded with both bands in the same room.

Paul Kersey, however, insists that Anna Lea and Marmalade Mama were written before Battle Scar.
