The review states that Max received two encores on this night, playing for about an hour - mighty impressive for an opening act.
Also on the bill is progressive rock band Butler whose bassist, Peter Fredette, would later be Kim Mitchell's longest serving band member.

My first live Max show... opening for Rush on the A Farewell to Kings tour Ottawa Civic Centre, April 1, 1978. Max was INCREDIBLE and the next day everyone in school went out and bought the album.

I first saw Max open for Rush, A Farewell to Kings tour, 1978, Ottawa Civic Centre. 8,000 people. Max must have gotten 5 encores which is unusual because opening acts aren't allowed to play an encore. You play your 28 minute set and then get your shit off the stage. They were on the same label (Anthem) so that's probably why the encores were permissible. That was my first Max show and I was blown away. Kim Mitchell - "Okay, Ottawa, if anyone ever asked you to go to war, what would you say?" 8,000 Ottawa kids - "FUCK YOU!"
