There are so many rock bands in Toronto right now that it isn't difficult to expect that most of them sound exactly alike. On most nights in the city, going into a bar where a heavy metal group is playing is like going to a dentist who uses three dozen drills on your teeth: you're assaulted by the noise, which serves as a blanket to hide the fact that underneath the wall of sound lurks very little talent. Not so with Max Webster at the Piccadilly Tube, a four-man band that is probably about the best in the city right now. They're negotiating with the Nimbus 9 people now for an album, and they deserve to get it, just on the talent of their drummer alone, Paul Kersey.
Prediction: they'll be Canada's next big group.
